Navigate the changing world with the newly renovated museum
The Museum
The Mannerheim Museum has undergone extensive renovation, during which Mannerheim’s home has been restored with respect for history. The renovation will also see the gradual opening of a new café and event space, a museum shop, and a lush garden for visitors in the spring and summer.
The renovation is not only structural – the museum’s activities are also looking boldly ahead.
We live in an era where crises escalating into war, shifting power relations, and growing polarization are shaping the world around us. At the same time, Finnishness is becoming increasingly diverse. These changes require an understanding of history – and the ability to interpret it from new perspectives.
That is why we want to construct a more multifaceted narrative of Mannerheim and Finnish history. We invite the public to consider what the past can teach us about adaptation, survival, and hope in the midst of crisis. What kinds of roles and phases—often contradictory—did Mannerheim’s life entail, and what can we learn from them? What will patriotism look like in the future? How can we cherish education, culture and social peace in an increasingly divided world?

Exhibitions
The permanent exhibition at the Mannerheim Museum presents the authentic interiors of Gustaf Mannerheim’s home. Mannerheim lived in the white villa on Kalliolinnantie from 1924 to 1951. The interiors of the home are as they were in the early 1940s. The rooms are furnished as they were originally, with the exception of three rooms on the upper floor: the medal room, the temporary exhibition space, and the museum shop. A special exhibition is held annually in the temporary exhibition space.
The museum’s special exhibitions examine Gustaf Mannerheim’s life and work within a broader historical context. The exhibition themes aim to address current topics that appeal to the public. The exhibitions examine Mannerheim from different perspectives. The aim is to broaden perceptions and increase knowledge about Gustaf Mannerheim, as well as to examine him in different historical and cultural contexts. The exhibition content also seeks to build connections between the past and the present.
Events such as discussion forums and guided tours are organized in connection with the exhibitions. Special exhibitions are also featured on the museum’s social media channels.
